Manual of Small Animal Internal Medicine
Published in Paperback by Mosby (15 January, 1999)
Authors: Richard W. Nelson, C. Guillermo Cuoto, and C. Guillermo Couto
Average review score:

A veterianry students dream!
This book is a useful pocket guide for those who find it difficult to remember everything all of the time! The information is concise and provides useful references to the parent text. One drawback is that 20/20 vision is essential as the text is fairly small - but it is easy to carry around with you. One further improvement would be to revise the index as finding the section you need can sometimes take a while...a definite drawback for a bedside textbook! Overall a useful pocket aid and well worth the money!

An excellent summary of an excellent book
This Manual is a summary of the larger book by the same authors. It contains everything that you need to know about the internal diseases of dogs and cats. The organization is superb: it takes you from the etiology to the treatment whithout forgetting an excellent walk through the diagnosis. The information is concise, very modern, and as complete as you may want it. But be aware! This is not a book for learners: if you need pictures and details of things an experienced veterinarian knows well, get the parent book! Both are excellent texts for their own purposes and well worth their prices.

My Father, Daniel Boone: The Draper Interviews With Nathan Boone
Published in Hardcover by University Press of Kentucky (April, 1999)
Authors: Nathan Boone, Neal O. Hammon, Olive Van Bibber Boone, Lyman Copeland Draper, and Nelson L. Dawson
Average review score:

Boone, From Myth to Reality
The Draper Interviews provide insight into the life of Boone, free of the myth and larger than life stereotype that has always surrounded this remarkable frontiersman. Nathan Boone's recollections of his father also gives us a glimpse of how Daniel himself viewed the world in which he lived and allows us to more clearly understand the man from which the legend sprung. Though many books written from similiar interviews are dull and rather boring, the Draper Interviews are arranged so that they make for rather stimulating reading and keep the reader eagerly in longing for the next chapter. Truly a "must read" for anyone interested in Daniel Boone or early Kentucky history.

Nathan and Olive Discuss Father Daniel Boone
Nathan Boone and his wife, Olive van Bibber Boone, had the kind of memories most people wish for. They remembered virtually all of the early history of Commonwealth of Kentucky. When Lyman Draper came to visit them for two months in 1851 he found them full of the most interesting and detailed memories of Daniel Boone. Not only had the elder Boone lived with them and shared his own memories, they had also lived through many of the incidents themselves, and knew many of the old pioneers -- old van Bibber was one of the earliest settlers in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Enjoyable, highly readable. I highly recommend this book.

Nasa New Millennium Problems and Solutions
Published in Hardcover by Xlibris Corporation (June, 2001)
Author: Don Allen Nelson
Average review score:

An Insider's Look at NASA
This is a controversial and somewhat shocking look at the real NASA behind the TV shots of Shuttles and Space Station. You may not like everything you read here but it will make you think about our space program in a whole new way. A must read for both the serious aerospace advocate and the casual space enthusiast.

A Must Read for any interested in America's space program.
This book, written by a NASA insider, is a must read for anyone interested in America's space program. It is rather fitting that it should come out in the year 2001. Thirty three years ago, a movie by that name depicted a year 2001 with lunar colonies and nuclear powered space craft. This book really answers the question about why that future never came to pass, exposing the mess NASA's bureaucracy and American politicians have made of the US civil space program. This book also offers some solutions designed to get the space program out of being stuck going literally in circles and back on a voyage toward the stars.

Probably the Best All-Around Field Guide for the South
I live out of this book. A must for anyone going outdoors in the South. I continue to impress my friends with the knowledge I retain from this book. If you are packing on the trail this is the book for you. Don't carry 10 different books. This is the only one you need.

nifty, all encompassing field guide for the not so patient
This field guid is really easy to extract information from. My sister-inlaw, who lives on a boat traveling all around the southeastern states, absconded with mine and I was left in the dark. I own many audubon field guides but I truely like the format of this one because all aspects are under one cover. It makes my pack much lighter! Alden and Nelson do a wonderful job for introducing the newcomer to the southern states. Thank you, JE Rifkin

Nelson Mandela: A Biography
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (February, 1998)
Author: Martin Meredith
Average review score:

A current day hero
The writer does an excellent job filling in the background of apartheid and the actions of the South African government in the early 1900's and the 1950's when the most reprehensible government policies were created. The descriptions of the country's jails and Mandela's stay at Robbin Island makes you ill but increase your respect for Mandela and all other political prisoners. Meredith also does a good job describing the sulkiness of De Klerk and his disappointment at not being recognized equally as Mandela for ending apartheid...maybe if he had been in prison for 29 years...

pleased
So intersting to read.he is confident in his words.I recommand this book to any people that are idealizied

Nelson's Super Value Series : Nave's Topical Bible
Published in Hardcover by Nelson Reference (July, 2003)
Author: Orville J. Nave
Average review score:

A Valuable Help, Well Bound
This is an indispensable tool in any family's study of the Bible, particularly for young readers, for topical studies or for moments when you would use Strong's but cannot remember the exact wording of a passage.

The binding of this edition is of better quality than the slightly less expensive version offered by Nelson, and while the paper stock will tend to yellow and brittle with age, this edition should be able to take a decade or two of heavy use without exhaustion.

An excellent, affordable resource. Highly recommended.

A Must Have
If I was told that I could only have my Bible plus three other books for sermon and Bible study preparation, the three choices would have to be Strongs concordance, a good Bible dictionary, and Nave's Topical Bible.

Nave's has more than 20,000 topics leading to over 100,000 scripture references providing Biblical insight on a multitude of subjects. Just as importantly, this is no flash-in-the-pan, here-today-out-of-print-tomorrow study tool. Nave's has withstood the test of time and met the needs of millions of users down through the years. This is a work that no clergyman or serious reader of the Bible should be without.

Paddling Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks (FalconGuide)
Published in Paperback by Falcon Publishing Company (March, 1999)
Author: Don Nelson
Average review score:

Big Lake Canoeing
I was hoping there would be options for river floating. The book is mainly about open water canoeing and some small stretches of rivers that connect two lakes. But it is a National Park, so lots of land/river management is expected to protect the rivers and habitat. Don Nelson does an excellent job with his descriptions, day or extended trip itineraries and maps. However, the crowds and fees would make me think again about choosing Yellowstone as a canoe trip destination (only a personal decision). One more thing, there are grizzlies there if you didn't already know!

A well written book written by a well-traveled paddler.
I have traveled extensively by canoe in the Yellowstone/Grand Teton area and was happy to finally see a book devoted to the often overlooked waters of this area. The author has particularly good information on Yellowstone Lake, which has a reputation for being a nasty bit of water with very unpredictable weather. Nelson explains the risks and rewards of traveling on these high altitude lakes. This book is a must read for anyone wishing to bring a canoe or kayak to Yellowstone or Grand Teton.

The Penguin Dictionary of Mathematics
Published in Paperback by Penguin USA (Paper) (October, 1989)
Authors: John Daintith and R. D. Nelson
Average review score:

Handy reference
This book is useful for anyone doing maths at college. It summarizes just about everything and is good as a quick reference to refresh your memory on something. (It is also fun just to page through, and look at all the wierd things that mathematicians have come up with). Another advantage is that if you are studying a section in maths that you are finding a little confusing or hard to grasp, the entry in this dictionary will give the important points. But don't expect too much detail, which I think is the main drawback of the book.

Really, really helpful!
Anybody who regularly does math on a more-or-less advanced level will delight in this book; it is exhaustive but managable (the size of a common pocket novel, really) and quite concise. Buyers should realize, of course, that books like these are not meant to learn you calculus or whatever; instead, it is more of a helpful hand when you need it. Now, what was that formula for partial integration, again...?

Presidential Elections: Strategies and Structures of American Politics (Presidential Elections)
Published in Paperback by Chatham House Publishers (November, 1995)
Authors: Nelson W. Polsby and Aaron Wildavsky
Average review score:

A detailed look into the current democratic system
The book is very detailed and informative in the election process. The book covers everything from the primaries to push polling as well as finacing and campaign reform. The book walks you through the political process starting with the time before the primaries and ends with the rap up of the election. If you are just entering the world of politics or you would like to know excatly where your votes goes, this is a great book for you. It is easy to read and goes into great lenght on the presidential elction process. I read this book when I began my study of political science and I would recomend it as a stepping stone into politics. It is a must have for any political junkie or the average person that would like to get involved in politics.

A must read for one interested in presidential elections!
Polsby's Presidential Elections offers a clear and cogent account of the presidential election process including the strategic incentives facing: voters, parties, interest groups, candidates, and the press. He debunks myths propounded by the popular press on why Americans don't vote (we're so mobile, not we're alienated), analyzes the differing strategic positions faced by the major parties, and shows how the news media has evolved into a crucially important interest group, with its own interests. The book is easily accessible to those who have no formal training in political science, while it offers new insights for serious students. In sum, Polsby's book should appeal to anyone who wants to understand why presidential elections operate the way they do.

Great information, poorly organized
This is the best book I have seen on McCoy pottery. It is very complete and has great pictures. I do not like the pricelist in the back of the book, alot of page turning needed. I copied the price pages to use while browsing the book. Highly recommended.
